dont you dare look out your window, everything's on fire.
So it is springtime, first official day of spring to be more exact. Obviously I have been slacking on my writing and I know that the only reason I even write in this anymore is purely for myself to look back on and remember certain emotions, lessons, quotes, and lyrics that convey what I was going through at different times in my life. Just now, I was reading posts from sept/oct time frame, and it is ridiculous to me that i did not mention the persons name once who caused all of those overdramatic posts about moving on and love and stuff. Well of course, they are overdramatic now...werent at the time. But anyway, my point is, alot has changed. I have realized a few things in the past 6 months....counting from october to now...ill make it into a top ten list form to keep myself entertained next year when i am reading through my old entries...ok here we go...
number ten...yes eat pray and love says "losing balance for love sometimes is part of living a balanced life". But I do not agree with that anymore. Indulging and treating yourself is one thing but that entire concept can be (and was) used as an excuse for many unhealthy things to happen. A real loving relationship is stable, steady, consistent, and slow. I will never make that mistake again.
number nine......Reading the Bible every day is something I must do to stay grounded and keep up my constant communication with God. There are way too many temptations and terrible things trying to distract me for me to stray away from my plan now. Although giving up Facebook (as I have for the past three months) may not be nessacary, the Bible reading is here to stay.
number eight......coaching is hard. i think i knew this in soccer season too but i was on a high from being in charge on my own. now, coming through bball and track and not even having to deal with head coach responsibilities, i can say its alot alot.
number seven....you always think you know everything until you learn something new. it is so humbling to be around people that have helped me grow and shown me unexpected things int he past 6 months. Especially in Young Life. The other leaders and people in my life that
number six...you cant be high on energy at all times without running yourself into the ground. It is so hard for me to pick and choose when to spend energy and when to save it but being around kids for 12 hours a day is alot. Some days I feel like I go through 25 different mood swings in an hour. But I just try to breathe and not get too upset in my head because that wont help anything.
number five....praying for others and praying constantly throughout the day not only keeps your focused on whats important but makes you appreciative and unselfish..unless of course the prayers are all about you...which is okay if you need them because you have to be riht first before you can help others. but then spread the prayer love. I never believed in the power of prayer until starting to listen to klove radio...so yay thanks for that.
number four....it is not worth stressing yourself out to the max and isolating yourself from your friends...kinda goes with 6 i guess....like i did last year when i was training for my marathon. i love to workout and i get in these moods where i like to push myself for hours and hours and test my motivation then not talk to anyone. its weird but i do it. the past six months however i have realized that what i think can be fixed by a hard workout often can be fixed even better by a simple conversation.
number three...every year is going be a cycle and a learning experience. enough said there.
number two....sometimes things do really happen when you least expect it. hmm at least they were right about something...
number one (in no order whatsoever BTW except that this is the order it popped into my head)....If something feels bad, get away from it. I can only make an educated guess that walking away from a situation before it intensifies will still suck, but less than walking away from the intensified situation. Cant blame myself but please future me dont do this to yourself again. dont rush, dont trust too quikcly but do trust when the person earns that trust. woo easier said than done.
AND REMEMBER GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME! okay goodnight future me <3
